Community Helpers

The annual summer youth program through Trehab's Workforce Development Department has come to an end.  Fourteen teenagers in four counties worked with career advisors to tackle projects that allowed for the practice of important employment skills while benefiting their communities.  Click below for more details.

  • Sullivan County:  Two Sullivan County youth spent a week landscaping,  painting,  and working on community beautification.
  • Susquehanna County:  Eight youth in Susquehanna County performed cleaning and maintenance tasks for the Susquehanna Community Library,  landscaping and yard york for Trehab,  and worked on community beautification projects.
  • Tioga County:  Two new park benches now sit in community parks in Tioga County,  donated by the youth that built them.  In this county the program also involved office assistant tasks,  giving youth practice in office skills vital to the workplace (such as filing and copying).
  • Wyoming County:  In Wyoming County one youth was placed at Interfaith Friends as a store assistant,  and one helped the career advisor with community beautification projects.
Sound Interesting?
Trehab is always looking for more students to be involved in youth programming.  Enrollment and availability of paid work experience is dependent upon available funding,  but there are a variety of other services Trehab offers to youth.  These include mentoring,  tutoring,  drivers training preparation,  career exploration,  and job search assistance.
Interested youth can contact the Trehab workforce development center in their county and ask to speak to a Youth Career Advisor.
