Wyoming County Trehab Workshops

The workshops held at Wyoming County Trehab on the second Wednesday of every month have become increasingly popular.  Again, this month’s work readiness workshops are fully booked.  There is no cost, but all participants are encouraged to sign up early due to limited space.  They also must be registered on CareerLink at least a day before the session.

The workshops cover three (3) primary topics: job search methods (skills assessment and inventory, career/vocational exploration, and networking strategies); job readiness techniques (resume preparation, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and telephone approaches) and job retention skills (employer, expectations, work habits, and ethics).

Trehab’s upcoming workshops include Resume and Cover Letter Writing Tips:   Important resume and cover letter components are discussed, along with ways a good resume and cover letter can improve job search outcomes.  Other popular workshops include, Career Decisions:  How professional guidance in career decision making and financial aid options, as well as, suggestions in, Interviewing Tips and Job Retention, are useful.   These workshops speak to the importance of interview preparation:  what to wear, how to answer “illegal” questions, the significance of body language, and ways to market yourself, successfully in a competitive job market.  Job Retention focuses on the multi-faceted aspects of professionalism.

WIN/Work Keys and Shale Net informational workshops are also offered, as needed.  WIN provides basic workplace skills training appropriate for K-12 and post-secondary education, adult education, workforce development.  WIN Courseware prepares those entering the workforce with skills needed for achievement in their career and is a Career Readiness Certificate program.  WorkKeys are also nationally recognized assessments that measure these skills with the capability to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate and increase individual marketability.
