Chesapeake Energy Provides Assistance for Residents Impacted by Fall Flooding

Ms. Jane Clements, Manager, Community Affairs, Chesapeake Energy, presented a check for $100,000 to Trehab to provide assistance to residents impacted by the recent flooding and impacted by the recent housing market shortage.  The donation is part of the Department of Community and Economic Development Neighborhood Assistance Program targeting low income residents in need for Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.

Representative Tina Pickett applauded the commitment by Chesapeake to assist residents of Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.  While the flood is in the past, there continues to be a need to assist residents who have been severely impacted by the disaster.  Darla Bortz, Sullivan County Commissioner and Trehab Board Member, also thanked Chesapeake for its ongoing commitment to assist the residents of the region.

DCED Regional Director, Gary Baker was on hand and applauded the program as an excellent example of partnership with a private company, Chesapeake, and Trehab, a local Community Action Agency with strong ties to local government efforts to meet unmet needs associated with the flood and housing needs due to the housing market issues related to influx of industry workers.

The program provides assistance for individuals and families recovering from the disaster, as well as others with housing crisis problems.  Rental assistance and utility assistance is available to supplement existing services.
