The "Old Doctor’s House" is a large 3-story wood frame structure that was last used by Tyler Memorial Hospital as a family practice physician's office. This site now provides apartments for people aged 62 and older in the rural community of Laceyville, in western Wyoming County. Renovation work on this grand old building took one year to complete, and was opened for residency on July 1, 2006. The $400,000 development took a vacant building in a state of disrepair and created from it affordable and comfortable apartments. There are two 1-bedroom apartments and one 2-bedroom apartment. The interior of the structure was completely gutted and rebuilt. All plumbing, heating and electrical systems were replaced. All windows were replaced, and the apartments have been well insulated for increased energy efficiency. Appliances, including a washer and dryer, are provided in each apartment. On-site parking is provided for the tenants. |
